Dino-story

The Ultimate Dino-story 🦕

This museum exhibit depicts everything you would want to know about dinosaurs, all in one place!
🦖 The 3 sections of the chart show the 3 broad diet types (carnivorous, omnivorous, herbivorous).
🦖 The points on the plot are the unique dinosaur species, categorized by their diets.
🦖 The lines radiating from these points depict the time period that these dinosaurs were alive in.
🦖 The colors (red, blue, yellow) represent the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods.
🦖 The length of each line indicates how long ago they lived (millions of years ago!)
🦖 The glyphs at the end of each line represent the type of dinosaur.
🦖 If a certain glyph is clicked, it shows the network connecting the specific type of dinosaur. Try it out and see for yourself :)

This visualization is COMBINATORIAL!
🦎 It includes the integration of multiple data visualization techniques (Elijah Meeks' article).
🦎 It combines a radial scatterplot, line elements, unique glyphs and network interactivity, to visually represent multiple attributes in a single graph.
